After a comfortable win at home last week to open the season, Penn State is back in Beaver Stadium in Week 2 for another home game in non-conference play. Penn State hosts FIU on Saturday afternoon and will do so as a hefty favorite for a second straight week. This will be the second of three non-conference games on the schedule before getting an early bye week heading into Big Ten play with a prime-time showdown against Oregon looming on the horizon.
Defensive linemen Dani Dennis-Sutton and Zane Durant sparked the defensive efforts last week by creating a total of three turnovers in a win over Nevada. Quarterback Drew Allar seemed to find some connections with his new arsenal of wide receivers, including Kyron Hudson and Trebor Pena. But last week was relatively quiet from the running back combo of Nicholas Singleton and Kaytron Allen, despite the two combining for three rushing touchdowns. Expect a bit more production on the ground from the thunder and lightning in the backfield against FIU.
