The new parking space, counting 100 places, at the western entrance of Maro is now open. The project wants to ease traffic congestion, especially during peak tourist season, and provide more parking options for both residents and visitors.
José Alberto Armijo, mayor of Nerja, officially received the completed works and also announced that starting March 3, construction will begin on the redevelopment of Calle Cristo, a much-needed upgrade to modernize local infrastructure. These two projects cost a total investment of €487,680.
In addition, the sidewalk expansion along the old N-340 road between Nerja and Maro has also been completed. Covering nearly one kilometer, the project had a budget of €128,127 and aims to improve pedestrian access in the area.
Maro’s local representative, Nuchi Moreno, welcomed these improvements, pointing out their positive impact on both residents and tourism. “All these projects make Maro a more modern, accessible and attractive place, both for those who live here and for visitors.”
