The Orihuela Reconquista Museum is hosting the exhibition “The Madonna: An Expression of the Feminine” until March 23.
This exhibit explores femininity in art, combining words and images to connect different artistic forms.
What started as a personal reflection by artist Lucía Cervantes Barceló has evolved into a collaborative project featuring artists from various disciplines. Through illustrations and drawings, the exhibition examines themes of beauty, purity, and passion, all expressed through the female figure. Visitors can follow the project’s development and see the artist’s creative process, including early sketches and notebook studies.
Lucía Cervantes Barceló, originally from Orihuela, studied at the Universitat Politècnica de València, where she is now pursuing a Master’s in Artistic Production. Specializing in drawing and engraving, she has also trained in illustration and bookbinding. Her work has been featured in exhibitions across Madrid, Barcelona, Jaén, Valencia, and Murcia. She has won two national comic awards, with her art focusing on the human form, particularly the female figure.
The exhibition is open to the public in the Temporary Exhibition Hall on the first floor of the Reconquista Museum in Orihuela. Visiting hours are from 10am to 2pm and 5pm to 8pm, Monday through Sunday.
