The Balearic Islands received 2.1 million foreign tourists in the first four months of this year, 9.5 per cent more than between January and April last year, according to figures released on Monday, June 2, by the National Statistics Institute (INE).
In April alone, 1.3 million visitors from other countries arrived in the archipelago, representing a 13.4 per cent increase compared with the fourth month of 2024.
As for spending, foreign visitors to the Balearic Islands spent a total of 2,627 million euros in the first third of the year, 11.7 per cent more than in the same period in 2024. In April, spending rose to 1,584 million euros, up 13.8 per cent.
The average spend per tourist in April was 1,167 euros, while the average for the first four months of the year stood at 1,212 euros. From January to April, the daily expenditure per visitor reached 189 euros, a 5 per cent increase, with the average stay at 6.4 days – nearly 3 days fewer than the previous year.
Spain as a whole received 25.6 million foreign tourists during the first four months of the year, 7.1 per cent more than in the same period of 2024, setting a new record.
In April alone, Spain welcomed 8.6 million tourists, a 10.1 per cent year-on-year increase and the highest monthly figure ever recorded. It is worth noting that Easter was celebrated in April this year.
Tourist spending in April totalled 10,826 million euros, 14.2 per cent more than last year, another all-time high.
