Flat-Rate Travel Pass Coming to the Region
PEOPLE living in the Murcia area will soon be able to use all public transport for just €35 a month, thanks to a new flat-rate travel pass. The pass will allow unlimited journeys on local buses, including night buses, and the tram.
Discounts for students and special groups
Students will pay a reduced price of €25, and travel between different types of transport will be free. Special discounts will also apply to large families, young people under 25, and pensioners, who will be able to travel for free.
Cheaper digital and card payments
The single ticket price will be €1.50, but will drop to €1.35 if paid digitally, or as low as €1.10 with a rechargeable card.
Better connections for everyone
The aim is to make public transport easier to use, more affordable, and better connected across the whole region. The council says this new system will remove price differences between the city and surrounding villages, encourage people to use public transport more often, and make it easier for everyone to get around.
Expected rollout before year-end
If everything goes to plan, the new prices and travel pass should be in place before the end of the year.
Key benefits at a glance
The new pass offers unlimited travel for a low monthly fee, free transfers between transport types, and big savings for students, pensioners, and families. It’s designed to make commuting easier, reduce traffic and pollution, and ensure everyone, no matter where they live, can travel affordably across the region.
