ABERDEEN — Offense was not hard to come by for both Bon Homme and Avon softball on Saturday.
However, it was the second-seeded Cavaliers who delivered the final blow, as Tarynn Torsney hit a walk-off single to down the eighth-seeded Pirates 15-14 in the Class B state seventh-place game at the Players Softball Complex. The two sides combined for 33 hits and 11 walks in the offensive showcase.
In total, the game featured three lead changes and two ties, with runs scoring in 10 of the 14 half-innings played. After Bon Homme jumped out to a 5-0 lead through two innings, Avon scored six runs in the third to grab the advantage. The Cavaliers built back a four-run lead with three-run frames in innings 4-6, only to see it slip away in the seventh with Pirates tying the contest with a four-run inning.

Taycee Ranek also posted a three-hit game with a home run, driving in two runs and scoring twice. Olivia Kaul had three hits, two RBIs and three runs scored, and Taryn Crites collected a two-hit game while driving in a pair of runs.
