For the ninth year running, Estepona Town Hall has partnered with the Alliance Française of Malaga to promote French language education and cultural activities in the town.
The collaboration, renewed through an agreement with the town hall, allows French courses, workshops, and cultural events to be held at the Padre Manuel Cultural Centre, with nearly 900 students (adults, teenagers, and children as young as 4) having participated since the programme began in 2017.
The upcoming courses will run from October 6 to January 27 for adults and until June for children and teenagers. Adult courses consist of two weekly 90-minute classes, while children’s and junior courses have one weekly session of the same duration. New this year is a class for French-speaking children aged 4-5 to support language development in a foreign environment.
Conversation classes are also available for those looking to practise French casually. Courses are primarily held in person at the Padre Manuel Cultural Centre, with online options available.
To encourage participation, those enrolling in annual children’s and junior courses or four-month adult courses between July 1 and 10 will receive a €50 discount. Additional discounts are offered for loyalty, families, and friends, and special subsidies are available for vulnerable groups through the Town Hall and Alliance Française agreement.
For the sixth year, the Alliance Française will also offer extracurricular French courses at IES Mediterráneo in Estepona to prepare students for official exams, with plans to expand this to other schools in the future. The Alliance Française, the only official exam centre for DELF and DALF certifications in Málaga province, will hold exam sessions in February. Preparatory workshops from November to February will focus on exam methodology, practice tests, and the four required competencies, led by certified DELF/DALF examiners. These internationally recognised diplomas validate French proficiency for academic and professional purposes.
As well aslanguage education, the Alliance Française will continue promoting French-speaking culture through free monthly film screenings at the Padre Manuel Cultural Centre and other events throughout the year.
