
Here’s a chance to help pick the Upstate high school athlete of the week for April 28 through May 4. Multiple votes are allowed until the poll closes at 5 p.m. on May 9. Coaches are encouraged to make nominations. The winner of the previous week’s fan vote was Dorman lacrosse player Carter Kish.
This week’s finalists:
Greyson Austin, Wren: Austin doubled, tripled, homered and drove in six runs in going 3-for-3 in a baseball win against Southside,
Shamon Black, Mountain View Prep: Black took three events at the Region 3-AAA track and field championships. He won the 100 meters (10.77 seconds), the 200 (22.36) and 110 hurdles (14.01.).
Klay Davis, Chesnee: Davis was 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, three RBIs and two runs scored in a game against Liberty.
Kendrick Jackson, Liberty: Jackson took four events at the Region 1-AA track and field championships. He won the 100 meters (11.15 seconds), the 200 (22.43), the 400 (53.23) and the long jump (6.58 meters).

Garrison Metz, T.L. Hanna: Metz had a walk-off, two-run single as the Yellow Jackets scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh for a 5-4 win against Westside.
Timmy Reardon, J.L. Mann: Reardon had two goals and an assist in a 6-0 soccer win against Greenwood as the Patriots improved to 20-0.
Neal Thompson, Blacksburg: Thompson struck out 12 batters and allowed no earned runs in a win against High Point Academy.
Connor Wells, Dorman: Wells stuck out 15 batters and allowed just three hits and one walk in six innings as the Cavaliers beat Spartanburg, 3-0.
Asher Wilson, Eastside: Wilson scored both goals in a 2-1 soccer win against Byrnes as the Eagles clinched Region 2-AAAAA.
Kohen Wright, Palmetto: Wright had two triples, drove in four runs and scored three as the Mustangs in a win against Carolina Academy.
