Once again, there was no Terry McLaurin in Tuesday’s team workouts.
Tuesday morning was the scheduled Burgundy and Gold intrasquad scrimmage. McLaurin was seen on the sidelines, actually chatting with Jayden Daniels and others, including none other than Commanders GM Adam Peters himself.
I realize it is only a brief moment in time, but I did notice there was no smile from either Peters or McLaurin. But then again, we don’t really have any idea what was being discussed, and frankly, there has been more than enough speculation regarding this “holdout,” now “hold in.”
Meanwhile, McLaurin remains on the PUP list (Physically unable to perform) with his “ankle injury” keeping him from working out with the team, while he is actually under contract for this 2025 season. Head coach Dan Quinn was asked before practice if there was an update on McLaurin. “I don’t have any big updates for you. As far as timelines go, the guys have an off day tomorrow (Wednesday). As we are working into the practices prior to the next game (Monday at home vs Cincinnati), maybe I can give you some insights then, but no updates to share with you today.”
Well, did Coach Dan mean anything by this? He spoke of no “big updates” but maybe some insights in a few days? Is there a meeting planned to negotiate in the next few days? Who knows?
What we do know is that Terry McLaurin is under contract for the 2025 season. The Commanders will pay him according to the agreed terms, and McLaurin must attend camp to fulfill his side of the contract and prepare to the best of his ability for the upcoming season.
