The Miami Dolphins‘ win over the Buffalo Bills came as a bit of a shocker to folks on Sunday. The Dolphins beat the Bills fairly handily, 30-13, in a game that could prove detrimental to the Bills’ Super Bowl window if the team isn’t able to find a couple more offensive weapons.
This season has been a struggle for the Dolphins, to say the least, marked by injuries, public scrutiny, and overall locker-room turmoil. But a win against a team like the Buffalo Bills can sometimes lift a team into a spot where, if they aren’t set up to make a playoff run, at least they can try to ruin other teams’ hopes of doing so.
The game plan on Sunday was to spread the ball around and try to open the run game for Dolphins running back De’Von Achane. Achane was able to total 225 yards from scrimmage (174 rushing, 51 receiving) and 2 rushing touchdowns. Also on the day, Achane would force 11 missed tackles and gain a massive 100 yards rushing after forcing a missed tackle. After the game was finished, Achane would amass 195 yards after contact.
Achane is the second-fastest running back in the league and has been a bright spot for the Dolphins in an otherwise dismal season thus far. He quietly became the third player in NFL history to have 5 rushing touchdowns and 3 receiving touchdowns in each of his first three seasons.
