Who to slide into that starting kicker slot might be the toughest question to answer about your fantasy football team week in and week out. But you never know when it might just win you a game. Luckily, we have some answers to help you figure out what to do with that always tricky decision. Here are our best picks in Week 6 for which kickers you should start, and which you should sit.
Start Em’
Will Lutz, Denver Broncos: Lutz might not be among the top-ranked overall kickers in a ton of fantasy evaluations, but he did turn in two field goals and an extra point to have a solid week against the Eagles last Sunday. Now, he faces a Jets offense that is the second-worst scoring defense in the league, which should provide ample opportunities for him to rack up the fantasy points and build on last week’s performance.
Eddy Pineiro, San Francisco 49ers: Pineiro stepped up in a big way with 17 fantasy points and four field goals for the 49ers last week in a massive win over the Rams, and he’s currently on only two percent of all rosters. A looming match-up with the Buccaneers could be tough for San Francisco, but the 49ers are among the best-looking teams in the NFL this year and likely will keep things close with another talented team. That should give Pineiro some scoring opportunities this week.
Cam Little, Jacksonville Jaguars: Little has combined for 17 fantasy points in the past two weeks with performances of eight and nine points, and that could be a safe floor for him again this week against a Seahawks team that will likely give up a few scoring opportunities. This is a reliable pick.
Sit Em’
Tyler Loop, Baltimore Ravens: The Ravens have not looked great on offense recently, and the lack of Lamar Jackson this coming week will not make things any easier for the Ravens to move the ball. They’ll be in a matchup with the Rams, whom we ranked as one of our three defensive units that fantasy football players should start on their teams this week. Don’t expect much from a usually reliable kicker this week.
Jude McAtamney, New York Giants: The Giants lack their offensive star in Malik Nabers, the rest of their offense is young and incoherent, and the Eagles are going to be entering this week with a chip on their shoulder after giving up an embarrassing 18-point fourth-quarter comeback the previous week. Combine that with expected blustery conditions for this Thursday night affair, and don’t get your hopes up that McAtamney is the correct answer this week.
Nick Folk, New York Jets: A Broncos’ defense that is quite good at limiting what opposing offenses can do both on the field and in the fantasy football realm clashes with a very average Jets’ offense that hasn’t been particularly productive in scoring a ton of fantasy points this season. Folk might not be the worst pick this week, but it’s also not one to bet on being a winning pick.
