Marbella council has set aside €128,100 for grants in 2025 to neighbourhood associations, federations, and civic entities, with a 35.56 per cent increase from last year.
The funding has been described as a key help in strengthening Marbella’s associative fabric, playing a vital role in neighbourhoods, and fostering a more active participation in the community. The grants, which the many associations vie for, prioritise transparency and social cohesion and are open for applications via the municipal electronic portal until May 24.
The extra financial help supports four main areas: socio-educational workshops (up to €5,000 per request), socially beneficial activities (up to €8,000), operational and maintenance costs (up to €5,000), and purchasing equipment (up to €1,200). Each applicant can receive a maximum of €9,000 to strengthen internal structures, promote new technologies, bridge the digital divide, and give a boost to their neighbourhoods.
In 2024, €80,014 was awarded to twelve groups, averaging at €6,584 per association, with eleven receiving 100 per cent of what they applied for. Notably, two in San Pedro Alcántara which joined the scheme last year, with up to five potentially eligible in 2025.
The council has emphasised the goal of fostering vibrant associations as true drivers of transformation and coexistence, calling on groups to apply. Full details are available on the council website, and applicants must be registered in the Municipal Registry of Entities. At the time of publication, the council webpage for applying for the grants only has 165 views. So, there is still hope of having a successful application if you are quick.
