Mallorca has become a magnet for global A‑listers this summer, transforming the Balearic waters into Hollywood’s unofficial playground. At the centre of the buzz: Michelle Obama, Steven Spielberg—and yachts so luxurious they practically need their own zip code.
Michelle was recently spotted enjoying a sun-drenched lunch in Puerto Portals with daughters Malia and Sasha, alongside old friends and hosts James Costos (ex‑US ambassador to Spain) and interior designer Michael Smith.
The former First Lady, radiant in a breezy dress and oversized shades, looked entirely at ease. Barack Obama wasn’t pictured, but local speculation says the couple is together—quietly—on nearby property belonging to Costos and Smith.
Michelle has publicly dismissed whispers of marital strife, stressing that rumours of divorce are “not who we are”. Obama and her daughters, Sasha and Malia Ann, have ended their holiday in Mallorca. She was first spotted on the island on June 19th, as reported by Euro Weekly News.
Sailing with Steven Spielberg
The former First Lady of the United States had a very relaxing schedule, enjoying time with her friends and hosts, Michael Smith and James Costos, at their estate in Llubí, and spending the last two days sailing with American filmmaker Steven Spielberg on his luxurious mega-yacht Seven Seas, cruising along the Mallorcan coast.
Spielberg is also in Palma. He has sailed into the island on his brand-new 109-meter megayacht, the Seven Seas—a $250 million marvel that includes two pools, a helipad, a private cinema, and room for 14 guests and 30 crew. He’s celebrating 50 years since the blockbuster film Jaws debuted worldwide, the Majorca Daily Bulletin reported. Being the very good friends that they are, Michelle and her daughters sailed on the billionaire film producer’s yacht. In fact, this is not the first time they’ve met up on the island.
Docked off Puerto Portals, Seven Seas later cruised toward Andratx, where Spielberg and Oscar-winner Daniel Day‑Lewis hopped aboard, keeping their presence low-key, but impossible to miss.
The contrast couldn’t be clearer: Michelle, strolling discreet hiking trails in the Serra de Tramuntana with a minimal security detail, and Spielberg living the high-seas dream a stone’s throw away. It’s classic Mallorca: hidden trails and rugged mountain hikes on one hand, mega-yachts and star-studded glamour on the other.
This summer marks an emerging trend: a private yet visible paradise for those craving luxury without paparazzi, and escapism without sacrifice. Mallorca delivers in spades. Spielberg’s yacht is a floating palace—a literal cinematic experience on water—and Shepard spelt it out when it pulled into Puerto Portals, turning heads across the cruising community.
Yet, in quiet hinterlands—a hiking route like the Camí des Correu—the Obamas wander in peace, away from prying lenses. There’s magic in the duality: alone among limestone cliffs one day, a few miles from AI-style cinematic grandeur the next.
Shots of Michelle enjoying carefree lunches, relaxed hikes, and genuine mother–daughter time enhance the appeal. A reminder that behind every public gravitas, there lies a human story—simple, relatable, profoundly real.
Meanwhile, Spielberg’s presence cements Mallorca’s role as a media pilgrimage site. It’s not just about sun and sand anymore. This island has emerged as a cultural crossroads, where former presidents, Oscar winners, Hollywood royalty, and everyday adventurers intersect.
So, imagine this: lunch al fresco in Puerto Portals, a leisurely hike through shaded olive groves, and, later, drifting past a superyacht in a secluded bay. Mallorca has always had soul. But now, it’s flashing star power. And the best part? Whether you’re chasing tranquillity on foot or drawn by cinematic spectacle on the waves, you can have both, without trading authenticity.
