Nerja is ready to party again. The Axarquia town is preparing to celebrate a milestone in its cultural calendar: Nerjadanza Festival.
This is a well-established event, reaching its 20th edition, dedicated to contemporary dance.
Taking place from June 13 to 15, the festival returns to its original and breathtaking stage: La Reola, on the popular Balcon de Europa.
Performances will be held both in the morning and afternoon. The lineup includes returning participants such as the Conservatorio Superior de Danza de Malaga, Taller del Cuerpo from the University of Malaga, and Nerja’s own Escuela Municipal de Danza.
So, the locals and tourists are invited to enjoy dancing in the open air, surrounded by precious sea views.
This year’s edition is coming with some international flair: several Panamanian companies will also take the stage to offer a fresh Latin American perspective and dynamic movement styles.
Ana María Muñoz, Nerja’s councillor for Culture, spoke about the importance of this anniversary edition, highlighting how the festival began in 2005 with the simple aim of bringing dance closer to the community. “It’s a point of pride to celebrate twenty years of dance in our town,” she said.
If you want to see a fusion of talent, tradition and international artistry under the Mediterranean sky, Nerjadanza is the perfect occasion.
