Norwegian healthcare companies are at the point of reaching double export revenues by 2030, as part of Norway’s government’s ‘All of Norway Exports’ reformed rules.
The new health-industry initiative, backed by ‘Innovation Norway’, hopes to promote 15 measures to boost the industry’s global presence through public-private partnerships like ‘Team Norway’. The scheme wants to position the most innovative companies in a growing international market.
One company, AdjuTec Pharma, is looking at antibiotic resistance, a major global health threat. Their technology, developed at the University of Oslo research, restores the effectiveness of existing antibiotics using an enzyme inhibitor. With trials underway and market entry expected within the next few years, the firm sees billion-dollar potential. Support from Innovation Norway’s grants was critical for their start-up phase.
Kaass Discovery is developing AI-driven devices to monitor autoimmune diseases like MS, enabling patients to predict and manage their worst moments. With EU funding and Innovation Norway’s management, the company is currently patenting solutions to improve patient care.
Connect the Dots is offering VR training tools for healthcare professionals, that simulate realistic medical scenarios to better hands-on skills and self-confidence of health professionals. Funded by Horizon Europe, the company hopes to reduce training costs and improve patient recovery. These companies demonstrate Norway’s niche leadership in health tech, ready for a global market.
