Budget airline Ryanair has introduced a new subscription loyalty programme called Prime, designed for frequent flyers looking to cut costs while unlocking extra travel perks.
As confirmed in Ryanair’s press release on March 24, the service is priced at £79 (€92) per year and is initially capped at 250,000 members on a first come, first served basis.
What is Ryanair Prime?
Ryanair Prime members receive the following benefits:
- Free reserved seats on every flight
- Free travel insurance
- Access to 12 exclusive seat sales per year – one each month
Members will also get regular emails about upcoming Prime-only seat sales and can book an unlimited number of flights at discounted Prime fares.
How much money can you save with Ryanair Prime?
As stated by Ryanair, travellers who take 12 flights per year can save up to £420 (€490) – which is more than five times the cost of the annual membership. Even less frequent flyers stand to benefit:
“Even members who only fly 3 times per year will save £105 – that’s more than the £79 cost of becoming a ‘Prime’ member,” says the Ryanair official press release.
Ryanair Prime is currently only available to people aged 18 or over who are residents of Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, or the UK. Interested customers can sign up at ryanair.com – but must act quickly before the limited slots are filled. There are only 250,000 memberships available.
Ryanair’s Chief Marketing Officer, Dara Brady, said:
“Ryanair has been delivering the lowest fares (and the best services) in Europe for the last four decades, and we’re now extending our price leadership with the launch of our exciting new subscriber discount scheme – Ryanair ‘Prime.’”
He added that it’s aimed at those who “want to fly regularly but don’t want to break the bank to do so.”
