
The University of Vermont will be in the national spotlight again later this week.
The reigning NCAA champion Vermont soccer team will be the focus of ESPN’s ‘SportsCenter’: 50 States in 50 Days tour when the Worldwide Leader televises two shows on Friday, Aug. 15.
The summer venture marks ESPN’s first “tour of this scale” in 20 years. Back in 2005, ESPN ran ‘SportsCenter Across America’ and traveled around the country. On its stop in Vermont back then, ESPN visited the Vermont Expos at Centennial Field.
The Aug. 15 ‘SportsCenter’ featuring Vermont soccer will air at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. eastern time. The earlier show will coincide with the Catamounts’ home exhibition vs. Providence, which kicks off at 2 p.m. at Virtue Field. Admission to the game is free.
According to ESPN PR, the segment will offer “national visibility for Vermont Soccer and its impact on the local community.”Skubie Mageza will be the host on site, ESPN PR said. After Vermont, the tour wraps in Williamsport, Pennsylvania for the Litte League World Series on Saturday, Aug. 16.
Vermont, the nation’s No. 1 ranked team in the top-25 preseason poll, opens the 2025 regular season vs. Sacred Heart at home on Thursday, Aug. 21.
