Two record-breaking pups met this month in Idaho Falls, proving that friendship comes in all sizes.
Reginald (Reggie), a 7-year-old Great Dane from Idaho, is the world’s tallest living dog at 3 ft 3 in. Pearl, a 4-year-old Chihuahua from Florida, is the world’s shortest, standing just 3.59 inches tall.
Despite the 3-foot height difference, their meeting was a success. Both dogs are gentle, playful, and love attention. Reggie’s owner, Sam, says he’s “a big baby” who behaves like a toddler, while Pearl’s owner, Vanesa, calls her a “fashionista with attitude.”
Reggie was the runt of his litter, but grew nonstop into a giant with a loving heart. Pearl, tiny but mighty, was adopted after Vanesa faced health struggles, quickly becoming part of the family.
At their meetup, Reggie lay down to meet Pearl at her level, while Pearl trotted confidently over his legs. They bonded quickly, playing indoors and out, their owners laughing at how alike they really are.
“People assume they’re opposites,” Sam said, “but they’re both high-maintenance, love clothes, and love people.”
Vanesa added, “They both just want to love and be loved.”
