Paul Hickling from The Roman Oasis restaurant in Sabinillas has been in touch with Euro Weekly News to reflect on his life on the Costa del Sol.
‘Where did the time go? I’m 80 next week! Over half my lifetime building and improving the place. Now my lovely wife Kaat is running it as I potter around doing maintenance while enjoying watching the people having fun on the 18-hole Crazy Golf course I built four years ago. You don’t need to book for the challenging course; just turn up. We supply everything you’ll need except luck!’
‘Oh yes, at the end of the bar I see Keith Floyd having a slurp with South London gangster Charlie Richardson and Bob Hoskins. Frank Carson’s telling a naughty joke to Freddy Star, and Cilla Black’s having a lorra lorra laughs! Helen Shapiro is singing to Anni-Frid of ABBA (who had her daughter’s wedding here). And, oh dear… Robert Carlisle is giving everybody ‘The Full Monty’! Every picture and relic above the bar tells a story,’ Paul recollects.
So many famous faces from the history of the Costa del Sol; the Roman Oasis is still going strong in Sabinillas. Open every day from 12pm (except Wednesdays) for a fun afternoon at crazy golf, a game of pool and a fun day out for families, or a team-building exercise for your business. Check out reservations on romanoasis.com or call 711 068 700.
