British Airways (BA) and Air Canada were tied as the lowest-rated long-haul airlines in a recent survey by Which?, which surveyed over 9,000 flights.
BA ranked last out of 19 long-haul airlines and performed poorly in areas like customer service, seat comfort, and cabin environment. It even ranked lower than Ryanair when passengers tried to contact the airline. BA also had a high number of last-minute cancellations, leaving some passengers frustrated, like one customer who was told about their flight cancellation via text message early in the morning.
For short-haul flights, Jet2 topped the list with an 80 per cent satisfaction score, while Ryanair scored poorly, especially for comfort and service. Many Ryanair passengers complained about hidden costs and uncomfortable seats. Wizz Air was just slightly better than Ryanair but still received low ratings, especially for its confusing booking process and extra charges.
Singapore Airlines was the top long-haul performer, receiving high marks for customer service and cleanliness, though it lost some points for its “no-show” policies. Emirates ranked third in long-haul flights, scoring 77 per cent and was a “Which? Recommended Provider.”
Overall, BA’s customer service and reputation have slipped over time, with many passengers feeling frustrated by delays, cancellations, and difficulty reaching the airline for assistance.
