LAS VEGAS – Veronica Hardy met with MMA Junkie and other media members Saturday after her win over Brogan Walker at UFC 320.
Hardy (10-5-1 MMA, 5-5 UFC) outworked Walker (7-5 MMA, 0-3 UFC) for 15 minutes to open the prelims with a unanimous decision sweep of the scorecards at T-Mobile Arena. Walker was fighting for the first time in 2.5 years, but dropped her third straight since coming off Season 30 of “The Ultimate Fighter.”
Hardy said getting back in the win column 11 months after a rough loss was crucial, but she needs to keep improving before she’s ready to fight high-ranked opponents. She’s still concerned that she’s not pulling the trigger the way she thinks she can.
“I just want to come back and keep working. I want to fight early next year,” Hardy said. “But there definitely needs to be changes if I’m going to fight a ranked opponent. I can’t go out there like I did (against Walker) and be hesitating like that.
”I have more skills in the bank. I have everything that I need to be in the rankings. I just have to fix my mind.”
