On the weekend of Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 May, the park of Loquilandia will transform into the vibrant world of Viva Boom Fest — a multicultural festival made for families of all shapes and sizes. With the slogan “A festival for all families!”, this unmissable event promises two jam-packed days of games, music, workshops, storytelling, food and wonder for both little ones and grown-ups alike.
Saturday: the big start
The excitement kicks off on Saturday 24 May at 10:00 am, with gates opening and a full schedule of non-stop activities running until 8:30 pm. Families can explore themed zones like Monte Color, offering arts and crafts, Lago la-la-lá for fancy-dress karaoke fun, Río Relato, a chilled-out reading corner, Playa Meli for family games with Serendipia, and the Oasis del Boom, a sporty area with water games.
Throughout the day, there will be an array of creative and sensory workshops — from learning about bees and pollinators in La colmena del parque, to building your own “frikipack” of crafty creations with SOfriki. Parents can take a break and get advice at Pasaconsulta, a support space hosted by Neuroeducamos. Meanwhile, children can join in on oversized board games, get messy in the Sensory Museum Tent, or explore traditional crafts like esparto weaving and herbal remedies in “Grandma’s Apothecary”.
Don’t miss the multicultural World Storytelling Marathon, live performances from Museo du Parc, family table games, and lots of hands-on fun including workshops on dental care, emotional expression, puppet theatre, and more.
Viva Club: adventure for ages 9 and up
Older kids and teens have their own exclusive playground in Viva Club, open from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm. Expect zip lines, climbing trees, obstacle courses, cycling circuits, live role-play games like Werewolves of Castronegro, and creative workshops from comic art to tie-dye sock design.
The cultural line-up continues with traditional games from around the globe, Japanese calligraphy, and musical and dance acts including Afrobeat, Hawaiian dance, and Guinea’s traditional rhythms. Highlights include the Gata Brass Band bringing New Orleans vibes, and a special DJ set by Carlos Alba to keep the park buzzing through the afternoon.
The day ends in style with Amal, a circus theatre show by La Baldufa, and a thrilling BMX exhibition to leave you breathless.
Sunday: family vibes and festive flavours
Sunday 25 May starts again at 10:00 am, with more non-stop action until 6:00 pm. Many of Saturday’s favourites return, including the themed play areas, water zones, reading nooks and sensory tents. New on the agenda is a mini sports day hosted by The British School of Almería, food-play workshops with Bahía Sabores, and a taste journey through Indian spices, with sessions every 15 minutes.
The day is peppered with creative experiences: puppet theatre, neon emotion games, crafts, XXL board games, and the final rounds of the beloved Museo du Parc. The Pan Hidalgo area offers bread baking and olive oil tasting, while the Viva Boom Market showcases handmade local treasures.
Over at Viva Club, the adventure continues with escape rooms, henna tattoo workshops, hip-hop dancing, comic drawing, origami and much more. The Montessori playroom is open for babies, and the Circoteca offers space to tumble and balance like circus stars.
To cap off the weekend, the Boom Party begins at 6:00 pm — a colourful, inclusive finale with aerial acrobatics from Aribaldi Circus, samba drumming with Bloco Suca, Afro dance from Wontara and a cumbia tribute by the group Janguxa.
