YouTube sensation Jimmy Donaldson, better known as “MrBeast”, has released a 21-minute viral video detailing his 100-hour exploration of Egypt’s Pyramids of Giza.
Accompanied by friends Chandler Hallow, Karl Jacobs, and Nolan Hansen, the group ventured into areas typically closed off to the public, offering viewers a unique perspective on these ancient and thought-provoking structures.
MrBeast’s “unrestricted access to all the great pyramids of Egypt”
In the video, MrBeast enthusiastically states, “I somehow have unrestricted access to all the great pyramids of Egypt.” Throughout their journey, the team is guided by esteemed Egyptologists, including Emmy Award-winning director Ramy Romany and former Minister of Antiquities Zahi Hawass. Their expert insights enrich the experience, blending entertainment with education.
The adventure leads the group into seldom-seen locations, such as the submerged Tomb of Osiris and a concealed chamber beneath the Sphinx. In one segment, MrBeast remarks, “I cannot believe I’m entering the Sphinx. I want to see if that temple’s real.”
Prior to the video’s release, MrBeast claimed to have “rented” the pyramids for 100 hours, a statement that sparked discussions online. The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities clarified that while he was granted permission to film outside of regular hours, the historical sites remained open to the public during this time, as reported by The National News.
With a substantial following among youths (359 million subscribers in total), MrBeast’s latest venture has the potential to ignite interest in ancient history and archaeology. By combining his signature entertaining style with informative content, he offers an engaging educational experience that resonates with a broad audience.
